- Blood is thicker than water -

It is a very nice evening. And Susan would like to go out with her friends. They would like to go dancing. But this evening her uncle Jimmy has a birthday party.

Her mum says: “I know that you want to go out, but uncle Jimmy wants us to come. Blood is thicker than water, so we should go.” What does Susan’s mum mean?

Blood is thicker than water means family relationships are stronger and more important than other kinds of relationships, such as being friends.

So Susan has to go to celebrate uncle Jimmy’s birthday this evening.
